Who We Are
Growly is developed by Vitalii Honchar, an independent developer. This privacy policy explains how the Growly iOS application ("the App") handles your data.
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@growly.me.
Data We Collect
| Category | Data | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| User Content | Budget entries, habits, goals, meal logs | Core app functionality |
| Photos | Receipt images, meal photos | On-device OCR processing, meal logging |
| Analytics | Anonymous usage events (screen views, feature usage) | App improvement and quality assurance |
| Crash Data | Crash logs, device model, iOS version | Stability monitoring and bug fixes |
We do NOT collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information.
No account creation is required to use Growly.
Where Your Data Is Stored
- On your device: All user content (budget entries, habits, goals, meals) is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- iCloud (optional): If you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced across your devices via Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted by Apple at rest and in transit.
- No external servers: We do not operate any servers that store your personal content. Your budget, habits, goals, and nutrition data never leaves your Apple ecosystem.
Camera & Photo Library
Growly requests access to your camera and photo library for two purposes:
- Receipt scanning: Your camera captures receipt images which are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework to extract transaction information.
- Meal photos: You can optionally attach photos to meal entries from your camera or photo library.
Photos are never transmitted to external servers. All image processing happens on your device.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Analytics (Google): We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage metrics (e.g., which features are used, screen views). No personally identifiable information is collected. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google): We use Crashlytics to collect crash reports including device model and iOS version. This helps us identify and fix bugs. No user content is included in crash reports.
- Apple iCloud/CloudKit: If enabled by you, data sync is handled by Apple's CloudKit service, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
- User content: Stored on your device until you delete it. Deleting the app removes all local data.
- iCloud data: Managed through your iCloud settings. You can delete synced data from your iCloud account.
- Analytics data: Retained per Firebase's standard retention policy (typically 14 months).
- Crash logs: Retained per Firebase Crashlytics policy (90 days).
Your Rights
- Delete all data: Uninstall the app to remove all local data. Manage iCloud data through iOS Settings.
- No account to manage: Since we don't create accounts, you have full control over your data on your device.
- GDPR (EEA residents): You have the right to request erasure of any analytics data we hold. Contact us at privacy@growly.me.
Children's Privacy
Growly is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete any related data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be communicated through App Store release notes. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
